Lake Garda is everything I expected Como to be. It has bicycles. It has boats. It has kayaks. It has beaches. If you try and swim in Lake Garda, no one looks at you like you’ve whipped your kit off and announced you're going for a dive in the Thames. The cycle paths are a dream and, if it hadn't been for one hairy moment where we ended up on a dual carriageway, I could've kept cycling for hours.
Sirmione is a pretty picture perfect town too, with much more to do than Belagio, it’s Como equivalent.
The best bit is that it is a mere bus ride away from Verona, so you don't even have to fork out a fortune on a lake-side appartment.
